“The courage it takes to share your story might be the very thing someone else needs
to open their heart to hope.” Unknown
We all have stories about good times and bad,
how we’ve struggled to find answers where there were none, overcome hardship and heartache,
and discovered the secrets to some of our life’s greatest joys.
Your willingness to be vulnerable serves to assure others that difficulties won’t break us.
Sharing our experiences with others is not only empowering,
it can help to light the way for those who are walking a similar path.
“Supporting one another to fulfill our individual and collective potential is why we are all here. Sometimes, all it takes to connect with someone else is sharing our vulnerable story,
lending an ear or a shoulder, and just being present for them.” Sahil Dhingra
Thank you!
Thank you for entrusting us with your stories
even though sharing them likely meant revisiting painful memories and experiences
that almost certainly would be easier to avoid revisiting.
Thank you for sharing with us how deeply your own experiences have motivated you
to want to help others.
We feel a deep sense of responsibility to use the stories and insights you shared
to help and inspire other people through tough times.
According to YouGov’s survey of Britain’s students (2016) , more than a quarter of students (27%) report having a mental health problem of one type or another. 6 in 10 students say that they feel levels of stress that interfere with their day to day lives. In most universities, 1 in 4 students is using or waiting to use university counseling services, and there has been a 50 % increase in demand during the past 5 years, so although there is a UCL Student Psychological and Counseling Service, there are too many students requiring appointments and they sometimes have to wait for several weeks.
